Flying Food expands to Kasese, Western Uganda

NGO Ideas for Us Uganda is managed by Isaac Sinamakosa and based in Kasese, Western Uganda. Isaac established a cricket farm in 2019 with funding from Florida and unfortunately had to close down in 2022, due to issues of land-use. He was using a free range farming system, where crickets are farmed in rooms and not in crates. And was selling the products: MaProtini (porridge) and ActiSoil (Frass) through his website and social marketeers. Isaac wants to restart and is looking for collaboration with Flying Food.

Esther Amoding from the Flying Food demofarm in Masaka, Uganda already visited the cricket farm of Isaac Sinamakosa end of last year. This month Isaac travelled to Masaka to visit the Flying Food demofarm and to meet with Esther Amoding, Mathilde Miedema and Marian Peters. We signed an NDA, exchanged knowledge and experiences and decided to collaborate. We are all dedicated to insects and believe in the business opportunities of crickets and their huge impact on nutrition and livelihood of small holder farmers. With joint efforts we will look for investment capital to establish a Flying Food cricket farm in Kasese.
